A timely tale of a come-uppance - a holding to account, if you will, the song holds a dark mirror image up to the instability of political leadership, both in Australia and internationally. The song is directly inspired by ABC Journalist Sarah Ferguson’s gripping 3 part documentary of the same name. The song is also a timely reminder of the premise of democracy through the words of Abraham Lincoln's Gettysburg address "of the people, by the people, for the people."

Swamp-laden blues featuring Jeff Lang on slide and Ben Franz on double bass accentuate Lucille’s mournful, siren-call melody. The Killing Season is hypnotic, disconcerting and beautiful in equal measure.
